Ex-dividend date
TermUpdated 12 Sept 2026
From the ex-dividend date, a buyer is not entitled to the dividend that just went ex. The seller keeps it.
The three dates SGX lists
SGX's corporate-action board carries ex-date, record date, and payment date. Record date is who the registrar treats as on the book. Payment date is when cash or scrip is meant to land. Ex-date is the trading date on or after which the stock deals without that dividend.
Settlement
SGX equity trades settle two business days after the trade date. To be on the register by the record date you have to have bought before the ex-date, so the trade has time to settle. Buying on the ex-date is too late for that round.
The last price often drops by about the dividend on the morning it goes ex. That is the cash being peeled off the stock, not a mystery gap.
What we store
We copy SGX corporate actions with announcement type DIVIDEND. Upcoming on a stock page is the soonest ex-date on or after today, Singapore time. Amounts are cash per share as SGX sent them. We do not scrape news sites for rumour dates.
Live on featured names
Same SGX rows as the stock pages, fetched when you opened this page. A dash means we do not have that input.
