Market cap is the SGX screener value of the listed equity, in Singapore dollars. It is size, not cheap or expensive.
Where the number comes from
We store SGX screener marketCapitalization as integer Singapore dollars. The page then compacts it, S$162B rather than the raw integer. Shares outstanding on the same page are copied from the newest SGX balance sheet after the statements job. Multiplying last price by those shares is a check, not a second source. If they disagree, the screener cap is what we print.
What it is not
Market cap is not enterprise value. It does not subtract cash or add debt. It is not a ranking of quality. DBS is larger than ComfortDelGro. That does not tell you which P/B is the better look.
For an S-REIT the listed cap is the market value of the units, not the value of the buildings. Net asset value per unit is the property lens. We do not yet store NAV.
